1. What the fuel surcharge is
A temporary fuel surcharge may be applied to eligible purchases to help offset increased fuel costs for driving instructors. Any fuel surcharge collected is intended to be passed through to the relevant instructor.
2. When the fuel surcharge applies
The fuel surcharge applies to eligible purchases and credit top-ups made after the feature is introduced. It does not apply retrospectively to credits or purchases made before this time.
3. What the fuel surcharge applies to
The fuel surcharge applies to eligible lesson hours. It may also apply to other products, including TPs, where this is clearly indicated in the checkout flow or applicable product-specific terms.
4. How the surcharge is calculated
Where applicable, the fuel surcharge is calculated on a per-hour basis. The applicable surcharge (if any) will be displayed at checkout at the time of purchase or top-up.
5. Full-hour rule for top-ups
Where a learner tops up credits, the fuel surcharge is only applied to the portion of the top-up that corresponds to full lesson hours.
If part of a top-up does not complete a full lesson hour at the applicable instructor’s rate, that portion will not attract a fuel surcharge.
6. Credits and mixed balances
Learners may hold a mix of credits, including credits purchased at different times, at different instructor rates, or promotional credits.
Credits may be used in a set order determined by the platform. Where a booking uses a mix of different credit types, this may affect whether a fuel surcharge applies to each lesson hour.
7. Fuel surcharge and credit usage
The fuel surcharge is applied to eligible purchases and is associated with the underlying credits used.
As bookings may be funded by a mix of different credit types (including credits purchased at different times or rates), the fuel surcharge may not apply to every lesson hour booked.
8. Instructor changes and different hourly rates
If a learner books with an instructor whose hourly rate differs from the instructor from whom the credits were originally purchased, the number of lesson hours and fuel surcharge applied may not align on a one-to-one basis.
In such cases, the fuel surcharge may apply to some lesson hours and not others, depending on how credits are allocated to the booking.
9. Promotional and non-surcharge credits
Certain credits, including promotional or bonus credits, may not carry a fuel surcharge. Where these credits are used for a booking, a fuel surcharge may not apply to that portion of the lesson.
10. Instructor payment
Where applicable, the fuel surcharge is passed through in connection with eligible completed lessons. The amount received by an instructor may vary depending on the credits used to fund the booking.
11. Visibility and checkout
Fuel surcharge amounts may be shown as separate line items in checkout and/or transaction summaries. The checkout display at the time of purchase or top-up is the source of truth for any applicable charges.
12. Refunds
Fuel surcharge charges are non-refundable except as required under applicable consumer law.
13. Temporary feature
The fuel surcharge is intended to be temporary and may be amended, extended, withdrawn, or discontinued at EzLicence’s discretion.
